Biography
Andrew is a Hamilton based artist originally from Kiev, Ukraine. Andrew draws and paints in the Surrealist tradition.
Andrew was born in 1982 and spent the first 10 years of his life there. In 1993, Andrew's family immigrated to Canada. When the time came to pursue higher education, Andrew was unable to find any program that felt completely right to his heart. He did not yet know that he was to be a painter. Therefore, he studied Computer Science and Philosophy at the University of Toronto. He graduated with distinction in June 2006, by which time he was already active as an artist.
For Andrew, art is more than just a means of self expression. Something magical happens during painting, something that cannot be described. "I feel that my art is exceptional, and I feel very proud of it, but I feel hesitant to say that I was the one who made it. It is God's grace that allows me to paint, and through God's grace I can paint images of truth and beauty".
As an artist, Andrew continues to be deeply moved by the magic that is happening. Without planning, he continues to create beautiful art. On his own time, Andrew studies art theory, music, and visits art galleries, as well as working on the web and with non-profit organizations. Andrew is an avid traveller and has travelled to New York and Mexico in 2006. In 2007 he hopes to travel much more, if funds allow it.
