Roger Ferreira

Where did you study?

I was self taught in Trinidad until became a young adult. I Worked on the beach during the weekends in order to pay for private lessons. I have Immigrated to Canada in 1988. Actually my parents parents studied in Canada and i was born born in 1961 inWinnipeg. Our family returned to Trinidad after an economic resession started in Canada. I grew up in Trinedad. After I came back to Canada I started working in different places.

I have Worked in the Botanical Gardens in Trinedad in agriculture and growing of plants so I brought my skills and started my carer in agriculture. I Worked in Stoney Creek's Battlefield Park. I have obtained my duploma at the Tropical Agriculture institution. When I came to Canada I started adult evening classes at Delta Public School. Becasue of the success in my school I received my highschool diploma, University scholarship and the Governor General Award.The scholarship guaranted me tuition at McMaster University.In 1997 graduated with a degree with the History of Arts.

What was your major occupation?

I have been Involved in murals, like Barton and Lake Avenue Public School. After years of work as art teacher I entered the Teachers' College and am becoming a teacher for special needs youth.

What is your working style?

My working style is realistic and am portraying equality, justice, human emotions. Art is exhibiting emotions in people of different cultures.

I am involved in working with children with risk.During the summer time I am working at the art Camps during the Summer.

Roger is a quiet and hard working artist. Roger is also helping his family in Steel band exercises.
